WA-BASED Caspian Oil and Gas has expanded its oil exploration project in the Kyrgyz Republic by approximately 600 square kilometres.
The new exploration licences take Caspian’s oil acreage in the Kyrgyz Republic, which lies between China and Kazakhstan, to approximately 16,500 square kilometres.
The acquisition follows demonstrations in the country which disputed the recently held parliamentary election results. An interim government has been appointed which has indicated that it will honour all existing contractual mining and oil exploration licences, according to Caspian. Plans to hold new presidential elections in late June have been announced.
