SUFFERERS of depression in Western Australia have a new service to turn to, the HelpMe Campaign, an initiative of suicide prevention and support services Lifeline WA.
Local philanthropist Ros Worthington has been instrumental in developing the HelpMe campaign, which is designed to raise community awareness of what can be done to keep people emotionally well and safe from suicide and aims to encourage people in distress to seek and accept help.
It will also provide the community with information and knowledge that will give them the confidence to reach out to support people showing signs they are at risk.
“Too many people die by suicide and there is more we can do to prevent this tragic loss of life. I know there are people who need help; they just do not know where to turn. That’s why I have joined forces with Lifeline WA,” Ms Worthington said.
“Through their education programs and their 24/7 crisis telephone support service: 13 11 14, they have the insight and services that the community needs.”
