Privately-owned Kalgoorlie-based contractors CPC Engineering and GWH Equipment have won new deals in the Goldfields, from MacPhersons Resources and KalNorth Gold Mines, respectively.
CPC Engineering was awarded an engineering and design contract for MacPhersons’ Nimbus silver-zinc-gold project, while GWH won an open pit deal with KalNorth.
MacPhersons is planning to expand capacity at the Nimbus plant to 480,000 tonnes per annum and configure the plant to handle both gold and silver mill feed to produce a combined Dore bar product.
Managing director Morrie Goodz said the contract award was a sign the company is serious about the Nimbus project.
“MacPhersons is taking every measure to ensure our plant expansion to 480,000tpa is completed on time and on budget,” Mr Goodz said in a statement.
“Once again the Goldfields has proven it is home to some of the best mining services companies in Australia and we look forward to working with Kalgoorlie–local CPC engineering on this project.”
Mr Goodz said the company was on schedule for first production at Nimbus in 2013.
At close of trade today, MacPhersons shares were down nearly 4 per cent, trading at 38 cents.
At KalNorth, GWH will carry out mining operations at the Lindsay’s gold mine, commencing in January.
KalNorth is targeting the extraction of 440,000 tonnes of ore over the next two years.
“The award of the initial mining contract for KalNorth Gold Mines at Lindsay’s is setting the stage for the ongoing long-term development of our operations across the entire KalNorth gold field,” managing director John McKinstrey said.
KalNorth shares were up 3.3 per cent at close of trade today, trading at 31 cents.
