The State Government's $9 million transformation of Hillarys Boat Harbour is taking shape with Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan saying the completion of the $1 million replacement of E-Jetty was one month ahead of schedule.
"Hillarys Boat Harbour already attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and serves a fleet of commercial, recreational and charter vessels several hundred strong," Ms MacTiernan said.
"This new jetty replaces the original concrete structure which had fallen into disrepair, with 48 state-of-the-art floating pens that are easier to access and protected by a new breakwater."
Wangarra company Engineered Water Systems designed and built the replacement jetty, which is made of polyethylene floats and decking, with a structural aluminium frame requiring minimal maintenance.
The Minister said people using Hillarys were already benefiting from the four-year Hillarys Boat Harbour Enhancement Program.

Ms MacTiernan said work would begin in August on a $5 million project to make Hillarys Boat Harbour more family-friendly - with picnic areas, barbecue facilities, boardwalks, greenbelts and improved public facilities.
The implementation of the harbour enhancement program by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure had involved extensive community consultation.
