New Ellenbrook school set to go ahead

A 430-student primary school for Ellenbrook has won regulatory approval today, as the last stage of residential development, Annie’s Landing, enters its final phases.

The proposed school, which is scheduled to open in 2016, will cost about $12.1 million to build.

It is set to get the tick of approval from the metropolitan east development assessment panel when it meets today.

The Annie’s Landing Primary School, designed by Sandover Pinder Architects, will comprise eight buildings, four of which will contain a total of 16 classrooms, while the others will consist of an administration centre, staff room, library block and an assembly area.

The plan also includes eight future transportable classrooms, which would increase the capacity of the school to 637 students.

The imminent approval comes at the same time developer LWP Property Group is gearing up to officially open the 116-hectare Annie’s Landing, which is Ellenbrook’s eighth and final village.

The 45-lot first stage of development at Annie’s Landing was launched in May last year, while construction of the 11th stage is around 90 per cent complete.

Once complete, Annie’s Landing will cover 116ha and will comprise around 1,000 homes.

Housing Minister Bill Marmion will officially open Annie’s Landing on behalf of LWP early next month.
