Ocean Reef MLA Albert Jacob launched the first stage of the Alkimos Beach development, the largest development in the north-west corridor in 50 years.
Alkimos Beach is located 40 km north of Perth, in the City of Wanneroo, and the first stage promises to house 6000 residents in 2,200 homes on 224 ha of land.
LandCorp and Lend Lease, the development managers for the project, will commence land sales in the latter half of this year and the first display village is expected to be finished in 2014.
Including its second stage Alkimos Beach will be 710 ha, enough to accommodate 15,000 people and provide 12,000 job opportunities.
LandCorp Chief Executive Ross Holt said, “the project is the largest and most significant master planned coastal development north of Perth in 50 years.”
“Planned to suit a range of budgets and lifestyles, Alkimos Beach will incorporate a major regional centre, a planned train station and the largest coastal village in the district next to its regional beach,” he said.
