NW gas supply under threat
THE short-term supply of gas to Japan from the North West Shelf has been jeopardised by production problems with LNG Train 1.
Woodside Energy said production from Train 1 on the Burrup Peninsula was shut down on Monday due to technical problems.
The shut down will affect at least two shipments of LNG. The extent of damage will not be known till later this week.
The incident coincided with the planned closure of Train 2 for a 100,000-hour service of five gas turbines.
A Woodside spokesman said the incident highlighted the complexity of providing shipments of LNG to Japan, which imports 7.5 million tonnes from the Shelf each year.
