MURDOCH University has appointed Alison Gaines to the position of deputy chancellor. She has been appointed to the position for a two-year term. Ms Gaines has been a member of the Murdoch University Senate for the past seven years and played an active role in implementing improved senate governance processes. She is the global practice leader for board consulting for international executive search and human resources consultancy Gerard Daniels. She was previously executive director of the WA Law Society. Ms Gaines holds a masters in public policy from Murdoch University, as well as a bachelor of arts and recently completed a bachelor of laws. She is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management. Ms Gaines has extensive experience in the Western Australian and Australian public sector, having previously worked for the Department of Premier and Cabinet and Public Service Commission. A past national president of the Australian Institute of Public Administration, she was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2000.
