Woodside has been able to further increase output at the North West Shelf joint venture past the 100 terrajoules of gas per day that was initially estimated in the wake of the state's gas crisis.
A Woodside spokesperson told WA Business News that operators in the JV have boosted gas production by 150TJ each day.
"Initially we thought that 700TJ was as much as we're able to do but recently we found that we've been able to increase that to 150 TJ," the spokesperson said.
Normally, the North West Shelf produces 600TJ per day, while Apache Energy Ltd's Varanus Island gas facility produced 350TJ each day prior to the pipeline rupture last month.
The spokesperson said the new output of 750TJ had already been reached and for the time being there was no capacity for any further increases. He added that the extra output was sustainable given the cooler weather conditions.
