Monarch Gold MD resigns, Huitson promoted

West Perth-based Monarch Gold Mining Company Ltd has announced the resignation of managing director Matthew Gill, just three weeks after the loss-making company said it had revised its production plans.

Monarch also announced today the promotion of operations director Ian Huitson to the vacated position, effective immediately.

Executive chairman Michael Kiernan said it gave him great personal satisfaction that the Monarch board had appointed Mr Huitson managing director, as he and Mr Huitson had worked together at Consolidated Minerals Ltd for many years.

Mr Kiernan described Mr Huitson as "the heart and soul of the mine planning, mine engineering and mining operations."
