Monadelphous has secured a $108 million contract on BHP Group's South Flank project, while Clough has won its second contract on the same development. The two contracts will create 700 jobs at South Flank, the largest project underway in WA.
Monadelphous and Clough join a string of other contractors, including Perth-based companies NRW Holdings and Decmil Group, and national and international firms such as thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions Australia, CPB Contractors and Fluor, to have already won work on the $4.6 billion iron ore development.

Clough announced late today it has been awarded the construction of the ore handling plant (OHP) for South Flank, for an undisclosed sum.
Managing director Peter Bennett said delivery of the contract will create 300 new roles and be self-performed by Clough’s Western Australia based team.
The scope includes structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation for the OHP structures, including the interconnecting conveyors and transfer stations.
This news comes after Clough won a contract last year for early works on the non-process infrastructure at South Flank.
Earlier today, Victoria Park-based Monadelphous said the works it would undertake included structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation work associated with South Flank's outflow infrastructure, and was expected to provide around 400 jobs.
It will begin work immediately at the site and is due for completion by May 2021.
Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the contract demonstrated the strength of the company’s long-term relationship with BHP, as well as its proven track record of delivering large, multidisciplinary construction projects.
“BHP has been one of our core customers, for both construction and maintenance projects, for more than 20 years,” he said.
“We are looking forward to partnering with them on this strategically important project, and continuing to build on our proven construction capability within the iron ore sector in the Pilbara.
“Monadelphous continues to provide a broad range of community support initiatives throughout the Pilbara, including offering local employment and supply opportunities.”
In October, Monadelphous said it had been awarded a BHP contract for the provision of general maintenance services for shutdowns, outages and minor capital works worth about $240 million over a three-year period.
The contract, which contains an additional two one-year extension options, is for BHP’s Mt Whaleback, Jimblebar, Eastern Ridge, Mining Area C and Yandi mine sites.
Monadelphous’ shares were up 1.15 per cent to $16.69 each at 4pm AEDT.
