Global marine safety equipment company Mobilarm has entered a deal to supply VHF locator beacons to Apache Energy, for use at the North West Shelf.
Apache has agreed to initially purchase 35 of the beacons, which will be carried by Apache maintenance personnel working on the Reindeer Wellhead Platform.
The Apache contract follows Mobilarm's deal with BHP Billiton's sole helicopter contractor, Bristow Helicopters Australia.
Under that deal, Mobilarm will supply 50 VHF locators to Bristow, also for use at the North West Shelf.
Mobilarm now supplies safety beacons to 11 operating platforms on the North West Shelf.
Mobilarm chief executive Lindsay Lyon said he was pleased to provide the beacon to a leading company like Apache.
"The offshore oil and gas market in Australia represents a significant market opportunity for Mobilarm, and this initial order with Apache will build visibility with Apache globally, as well at other large oil and gas companies," Mr Lyon said.
"The adoption of the technology further validates the VHF locator beacon as one of the world's leading man overboard technologies.
Mr Lyon said Mobilarm has a pipeline of contract opportunities in the global oil and gas sector under consideration.
The contracts come after Mobilarm announced recently it would acquire the assets of UK-based Marine Rescue Technologies, whose personal locator beacons are used by oil and gas workers in the North Sea.
Mr Lyon said the purchase would create the world's largest man overboard safety and technology company.
"This acquisition will accelerate the growth of Mobilarm's global footprint and further build our capability in the oil and gas, defence and commercial marine sectors," he said.
