The Town Planning Appeal Tribunal has submitted recommendations to Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan that the application for extensions to the Rockingham City Shopping Centre development be refused.
Ms MacTiernan exercised her powers to call in a TPAT decision for the first time in January this year, based on concerns expressed to her by Rockingham City Council that the proposed plan could jeopardise the integrated transit-oriented development of the town centre.
After three months of consideration of evidence and nine days of hearings, TPAT has now made recommendations to the minister that proposed developments by Perpetual Nominees Ltd, Emergency Services Superannuation Board and Colonial First State Property Limited be refused.
Ms MacTiernan now will determine the appeal.
In January the minister said she considered the application raised issues of regional significance and that it was appropriate for her to determine the appeal.
