The berth was officially commissioned on Monday.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange Mineral Resources' said that the shipment of 71,500 tonnes represented a milestone for the company.
Mineral Resources is one of the founding users of Utah Point.
Executive chairman Peter Wade congratulated the Port Hedland Port Authority on opening the berth which will provide access for increased shipment tonnage for a range of junior miners.
"We look forward to the improved export capacity that Utah Point provides as a significant step towards enabling us to confidently develop our businesses in the region," said Mr Wade.
"The development of the Utah Point facility as a common user export terminal is a welcome initiative which supports the Company's vision of expanding its role as a volume producer and exporter of bulk steel making commodities.
"We have invested heavily in the development of our mineral resources and infrastructure to ensure that Mineral Resources takes advantage of the growing global demand for Australia's resources," he said.
As the shipment from Utah Point was being dispatched, Resource Minerals was concurrently loading a separate Panamax vessel with iron ore at the No 1 birth.

Mineral Resources Limited (ASX:MIN), through its subsidiary Process Minerals International, has today dispatched its first shipment of iron ore through the newly commissioned Utah Point berth in Port Hedland, destined for steel mills in China. This first shipment of 71,500 tonnes over Utah Point represents a milestone for Mineral Resources in achieving its expanding production targets for both manganese and iron ore sales from Western Australia. Concurrently, at the adjacent No 1 berth, Mineral Resources was also loading a separate Panamax vessel with iron ore for the Chinese market.
