Shadow Road Safety Minister John McGrath is appalled that the Carpenter Labor Government has awarded road safety contracts to the NSW Government ahead of WA businesses.
The contract, believed to be valued at $900,000, was for 11 electronic variable message signs, which are used on some main roads in WA.
"There were three organisations that tendered for the contract, two WA companies and the Road and Traffic Authority, a NSW government agency," Mr McGrath said.
"Main Roads WA awarded the contract to the NSW State Government over two West Australian businesses.
"The Minister has some big questions to answer, most importantly why WA businesses, developing high quality local road safety products, aren't being supported.
"Why are WA taxpayer dollars leaving the State when they could be spent here and encouraging innovative local businesses?
"I believe Western Australians will be offended by this Government's handling of this public contract and expect an immediate review of the contract's allocation."
