Matilda's Tiwi Sands approval process completed

West Perth-based Matilda Minerals Limited announced today that the Commonwealth Government has granted approval for mining of mineral sands at Andranangoo Creek West and Lethbridge Bay West, located on the north coast of Melville Island, approximately 100km north of Darwin.

The NT Government had previously conducted the assessment of the project and granted approval on May 26.

Matildas has submitted the mining management plan to the director of mines in the NT department of primary industry, fisheries and mines, with comment expected by the end of this week. Following the response from Matilda, the minister will grant approval for mining to commence.

On site Matilda has undertaken clearing and intensive grade control work for the start up mining area under an extension of the Matilda exploration MMP.

Exploration has continued in the project area with encouraging results from the Andranangoo Creek East, Radford Point, Robinson Inlet East, Lethbridge Bay South and Goose Creek West project areas. Final modal analyses for the exploration to date are pending.
