Looking for another win

MULTI award-winning air conditioning business Ford & Doonan has moved into franchising.

The first franchise has been set up in Mandurah and will be run by Brian and Louise Swift.

The Swifts have run an air conditioning business in the southern town for several years. Ford & Doonan co-owner Andrew Ford said the couple had been friends of his and fellow owner Kyle Doonan for many years.

“We decided to go with an established outfit,” Mr Ford said.

The company plans to roll out further franchises in WA’s South West with Bunbury, Busselton and possibly Albany in their sights.

Mr Ford said there also were plans to take the fran-chise to Kalgoorlie.

The company’s ultimate goal is to set up operations in the eastern states.

“But the first thing we need to do is iron out any bugs from the first fran-chise,” he said.

Mr Ford said the company would maintain its company store approach in Perth and run franchises in WA’s regions.

“That way we can weigh up which option is best for our push east,” he said.

The company has won three WA Small Business of the Year Awards in the past four years and co-owner Andrew Ford was named this year’s Western Region Entrepreneur of the Year.
