A CONSORTIUM including Mul-tiplex Constructions, Rockingham Park and Satterley and Company has been selected to redevelop the former railway marshalling yards at Leighton.
Transport Minister Murray Criddle said the consortium was selected from six proposals in response to national advertising by Westrail last year.
“If negotiations over contractual agreements can be completed satisfactorily, a preliminary concept plan will be put forward for the development in consultation with local councils and the community,” Mr Criddle said.
“The WA Government will have to be completely satisfied the site development plans strike an appropriate social, environmental and community balance before giving the green light for the project.
“I can give assurance there is no high rise development in the proposal for Leighton and beach access and public parking will not be compromised.”
Details of a public consultation program will be released on signing of the contract.
