WIND WARNING
For coastal waters from Kuri Bay to Cape Preston
Issued at 1:05 pm WDT on Wednesday, 3 January 2007
Please be aware, wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the
averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
SITUATION
At 12:00 pm WDT Tropical Cyclone Isobel was located within 45 nautical miles of
latitude nineteen decimal six degrees South [19.6 S]
longitude one hundred and nineteen decimal three degrees East [119.3 E]
about 60 nautical miles northeast of Port Hedland
with central pressure 990 hectopascals
moving south southeast at 14 knots.
Tropical Cyclone Isobel is expected to weakening rapidly after crossing the coast, and winds should ease below gale forces in the next few hours.
GALE WARNING
Within 20 nautical miles of centre extending to 50 nautical miles of centre in northeastern quadrants over marine areas.
Clockwise winds 30/35 knots. Scattered squalls to 55 knots. Combined seas and swell to 3.0m.
STRONG WIND WARNING
For coastal waters elsewhere from Kuri Bay to Pardoo
Northeast to northwest winds 20/30 knots with scattered squalls to 50 knots in thunderstorms. Winds easing below 25 knots tonight. Seas 2.5m easing tonight, and swell to 2.0m.
For coastal waters elsewhere from Pardoo to Cape Preston
Southeast to southwest winds 20/30 knots easing and tending northwest to southwest late afternoon. Scattered squalls to 50 knots in thunderstorms. Seas 2.0m easing tonight, swell to 1.5m.
