Komatsu chases $110m

ONE of the world’s largest heavy equipment suppliers, NS Komatsu, is to target a $110 million a year market for ground engaging tools.

This follows an agreement with South Australian wear parts manufacturer, Mason & Cox Industries-Hensley.

The manufacturing and distribution agreement will involve a combined Komatsu/Mason & Cox and partners competing head-to-head with market leaders Caterpillar and Esco, in the supply of ground engaging tools for Australia’s mining and construction sectors.

For NS Komatsu the alliance will help it target a greater share of the tools market and, at the same time, lift Mason & Cox’s annual production and distribution of these products by 200 per cent to $13 million by 2001.
