A $325,000 upgrade of power lines to the Avon Industrial Park at Northam will be funded by the state government.
Premier Alan Carpenter said the $325,000 project, funded through the Regional Infrastructure Fund, would provide a significant improvement to the region's infrastructure.
"The Avon Industrial Park is a model of Government and community partnership and this money will support the establishment of a world-class kaolin processing plant," the Premier said.
Mr Carpenter said the Swan River Kaolin project was a $100million investment with an estimated 100 long-term jobs, based on one of the world's best quality kaolin deposits.
Sydney-based Minerals Corporation Ltd is behind the plan for a $100 million kaolin project near Northam, which will create about 100 permanent jobs.
Minerals Corp chief executive Vic Alexander said the company's clay deposits, located near Meckering, were high quality and ideal for producing paper.
He said the company would shortly be commissioning its pilot plant, which would enable paper mils to conduct high volume production trials.
Wheatbelt Minister Kim Chance praised the efforts of the Wheatbelt Development Commission in successfully promoting the park.
Mr Chance also noted that the electricity supply would be sufficient to give the industrial park some extra capacity beyond the kaolin project.
"The Government, along with the Avon Industrial Park Advisory Board and the community, will continue their partnership to seek out and support industries which suit this great site," he said.
"The State Government is ensuring regional WA receives its fair share."
