The Ciara Glennon Memorial Law Scholarship at the University of Western Australia has been awarded to fourth year law student, Sholeh Jones.
The scholarship, established in 1998 following the death of lawyer Ciara Glennon, was presented to Ms Jones by Western Australian Attorney-General, Jim McGinty at UWA.
The university said that in addition to her studies, Ms Jones has shown an ongoing commitment of service to the community, both locally and internationally through a ‘Youth Year of Service’ in Vanuatu and Western Samoa.
The scholarship, sponsored by Blake Dawson Waldron, the firm where Ms Glennon worked, is awarded annually to a student studying Law at UWA who:
• demonstrates a need for financial assistance to continue their studies;
• makes a recognisable contribution to the community in a charitable, cultural, religious or sporting area;
• demonstrates an active interest in an area outside the practice of law; and,
• demonstrates a balanced well rounded approach to life, and a genuine concern for others.
