Housing and Works Minister Michelle Roberts announced today that construction companies John Holland Pty Ltd, BGC Construction Pty Ltd and Broad Construction Services Pty Ltd had been invited to tender for the construction of the complex, on the Wellington Street site.
"The Department of Housing and Works released information drawings to short-listed tenderers last month and the tender period which starts today will end on March 27," Mrs Roberts said.
"The successful tenderer will be announced after a thorough assessment over the following months and we look forward to securing a builder so construction can be completed in time to host the Hopman Cup in 2010."
The Perth Arena will be a multi-purpose entertainment and indoor sports venue in the heart of the city, providing up to 14,000 seats for world-class concerts and up to 12,000 seats for sporting events, including the Hopman Cup.
An adjacent car park, which forms part of the construction project going to tender, will provide 680 parking bays.
Preliminary site works are well advanced.
The Minister said the $320 million Perth Arena project, including car park, would attract world-class performers and international sporting events to Perth.
"Apart from providing a much-needed venue for Perth, Perth Arena will also revitalise the area between the CBD in Perth and Northbridge, the cultural and entertainment hub of the city," she said.
The Perth Arena has had enormous collaborated support from Western Australia's entertainment industry.
