The T-Line Safety System designed to protect workers against falls and invented by Leigh Dowie of Innaloo's Meridian Safety was named the winner in the Professional Invention class.
Leigh says it offers unrivalled levels of safety and freedom to people working at height.
"The T-Line solves many issues that are often faced with height safety like the pendulum effect and the inability to work around obstructions," he says.
The T-Line can also aid in the rescue of a person if they have fallen, Leigh says.
A portable lightweight aluminium folding boat trailer that can be fully licensed was runner-up in the professional category.
Gavin Ager, of Bibra Lake's Mangrove Jack Marine, who invented the trailer says it is stronger, lighter and simpler than those already available and will hit the market in November.
An invention designed to mobilse major surgical patients sooner and more frequently won the Amateur Invention - Retail Value Over $500 class.
Les Tomlinson, of Rockingham, says currently at least two people are needed to mobilise a patient after major surgery but patients can do it solo with his invention which is a stable combination of a walking frame with adjustable handles, two IV poles, two extensions and an oxygen cyclinder holder.
Runner-up in the same category was Osman Auleear, of Kewdale, with his mobile clutch alignment tool and jack.
Ron's Weeder a long tubular metal shaft with a T-handle at one end and a spike and blade a the other to remove flat weed from turf was named the winner of the Amateur Invention - Retail Value under $500.
Ron Bailey, of Lesmurdie, says you don't have to bend down and it takes the strain out of weeding.
Although he doesn't have any lawn himself, Ron's daughter Philippa asked him to invent the weeder because she works in a hardware store and people had been asking for them.
Ron's Weeder is available from selected hardware stores and is priced about $20.
The gutter over-flow spout, invented by Bob Hadaway, of Dianella, was second in the category.
The inventions will be on display at the Inventors Expo at the Silver Jubilee Pavilion during the Perth Royal Show which is on from 30th September to 7th October 2006.
