BRISBANE-BASED engineering consultancy Intelara has upgraded its Western Australian operation, with five staff moving into permanent offices in Subiaco.
The company established its first presence in WA last November, when it moved into a serviced office with two staff.
Managing director Michael Lethlean said he anticipated further growth by the end of the year.
“We’ve experienced an increase in the scope, scale and type of projects we’re undertaking for our current clients and work coming in from new WA clients,” he said.
“While most of this growth is in telecommunications infrastructure, we’re getting more and more design, structural and civil engineering and insurance work across the state.”.
Mr Lethlean said most of the work was coming from relationships the company had built since it started designing and deploying telecommunications infrastructure projects in WA in 1998.
Current projects include stormwater management for the new Bunnings store near Clarkson, a communications tower replacement project at six regional towns, and design of the radar facility at Paraburdoo for Airservices Australia.
It is also working on telecommunications projects for Optus and Telstra.
“We’re looking to establish offices in Melbourne and Sydney this year and enter into a collaborative partnership with a UK-based engineering consultancy,” Mr Lethlean said.
