WESTERN Australian listed biopharmaceutical company Imugene has announced a major scientific advance in the efficacy of its pig and poultry vaccine delivery system the Adenoviral Delivery Vector.
Imugene managing director Warwick Lamb said the commercial benefits of the breakthrough would apply to all of the company’s pig and poultry products.
"To give an indication of how dramatic this science advance is, our initial in vitro tests with the chicken productivity enhancer have shown that the modification to the vector has resulted in gamma interferon levels up to 50 times higher than the original product," he said.
Dr Lamb said the increased efficiacy of the vector should allow the company to expand the product range as better immune responses increased the level of protection for some diseases.
