IT&T group to tour Israel

AN INFORMATION technology and telecommunications trade mission will visit Israel from 4 to 9 July.

Information Technology Minister Richard Alston will lead the mission.

Senator Alston said Israeli companies had secured important IT&T markets around the world.

“Australian firms can learn from Israel’s success,” he said.

“But Australian firms have much to offer Israeli companies, particularly with our knowledge of, and access to, the Asia-Pacific and our recognised position as the IT hub of the region.

“The aim of this trade mission is to encourage joint venture activity between the two nations – and not just in the IT&T fields.”

Senator Alston said the mission would discuss latest developments and future trends in areas including e-commerce, Internet security, satellite technology and image processing. It will also examine initiatives to foster start-ups and venture capital investments.

There are more than 2,500 high-tech start-ups active in Israel with over 80 venture capital funds managing about US$3 billion dedicated to high-tech investment.
