Perth-based oil and gas information and technology company ISS Group Ltd has announced a deal to pilot its BabelFish technology with one of the world's largest oil producers.
The contract, through ISS's middle east partner Naizak, is for Saudi Aramco and will be rolled-out across over 200 wells over the coming 3-6 months.
With a current operating asset base in the region of over 10,000 wells, Saudi Aramco is one of the largest oil producers in the world.
BabelFish is ISS's core software product and facilitates the data sharing of production, technical and operational applications.
"This is a significant achievement for the ISS Group," ISS managing director Shane Attwell said.
"BabelFish is our flagship product which will provide Saudi Aramco with a capability to integrate and monitor the performance of their wells in real-time over the web. With the costs associated with downtime or non-performing assets, it is imperative that an organisation can monitor and pro-actively manage these assets real-time to ensure that they are operating at there optimum levels.
"The BabelFish application and its inbuilt visualisation, event detection, calculation and modelling tools provide this capability."
ISS was established in 1995 and is an information and technology company that develops and markets infrastructure and application software for the oil, gas and mineral processing industries.
It listed on the ASX in 2004.
The company's client base includes Santos, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Woodside Petroleum, Origin Energy and Apache Energy.
