Hotels contribute to PCB

AN article in Business News August 17-23 reporting on City of Perth matters quoted Councillor Laurence Goodman saying that CBD hotels contributed “peanuts” to the Perth Convention Bureau’s marketing funds.

This does not accurately represent the situation. CBD hotels collectively contribute more than $53,000 in annual membership fees, which represents more than 21 per cent of the bureau’s fee collections.

It should also be noted that they contribute a further substantial amount in cooperative marketing activities as well as providing sponsorship support for our busy site inspection program for meeting and incentive travel planners from interstate and overseas.

Yes, hotels are the main beneficiaries and their contribution to our efforts to market Western Australia are much appreciated, as is the generous support that we get from the City of Perth and the Western Australian Tourism Commission.
