Busy Perth businessman John Hopkins has included another listed company to his growing portfolio with West Perth-based Adamus Resources Ltd appointing him non-executive chairman following the retirement of John Daniels.
Mr Hopkins, who is currently the chairman of four other ASX listed companies including Matilda Minerals Ltd, Evans & Tate Ltd, Golden State Resources Ltd and Chemeq Ltd, has more than 20 years experience as a public company director for both Australian and Canadian public listed gold companies.
Prior to becoming a professional director, Mr Hopkins was a lawyer with a major Perth law firm, specialising in the areas of corporate and natural resources law. More recently he ran a privately owned corporate advisory investment company specialising in takeover, corporate reconstruction and mergers and acquisitions advice.
Last month Chemeq Ltd appointed Mr Hopkins as independent non-executive chairman.
Mr Hopkins joined the board of Evans & Tate in August 2001 and was appointed as lead director in March 2003 and chairman in September 2005.
As had been previously revealed in WA Business News Mr Hopkins' role as chairman at Evans and Tate includes "ensuring that the independent directors can perform their duties responsibly".
He also monitors the flow of information to the Evans and Tate board, can specifically request the inclusion of certain material in board papers, and manages any conflicts of interest.
