Hilton next for advancing Aldi

Supermarket giant Aldi is facing headwinds on its plan to acquire and demolish the Hilton Fresh shopping centre and construct one of its own supermarkets on the site, with local residents and the City of Fremantle raising concerns over the design of the proposal.

I wonder how many jobs are there CURRENTLY with existing retail. Once Aldi establishes, if they outcompete IGA, IGA would reduce staffing levels and then those mere 15-20 jobs their talking about would be irrelevant in the face of the loss of other jobs that existed previously. Whilst competition is always good, and a chance for existing retailers to prove their worth and retain customers because their good at what they do, I can't possibly see how Aldi are going to actually improve anything other than replace an old shop with a new that will be all about Aldi.
