Infrastructure WA has announced two additions to its board, appointing Evolution Mining’s Fiona Hick and Clough’s John Galvin until the end of 2026.
Ms Hick has served as a non-executive director at Evolution Mining since last month, joining the mining company 12 months after her sudden resignation as Fortescue Metals chief executive.
Ms Hick left the Andrew Forrest-led iron ore business in August 2023 after just six months in the top job.
She brings nearly three decades of experience in the minerals and energy sector to Infrastructure WA, having previously held senior roles at Rio Tinto and Woodside Energy.
Prior to Fortescue, Ms Hick was at Woodside for 22 years and was the executive vice-president of the business's Australian operations.
She was also the president and chair of the advisory board for the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA from 2021 to 2023.
Ms Hick currently serves as a member of The University of Western Australia’s Strategic Resources Committee, is an associate fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and a fellow of the Institute of Engineers.
Mr Galvin joined Clough in 2018 and continued with the engineering firm following its acquisition by Webuild in February 2023, taking up the position as chief bidding, engineering and concessions officer.
Mr Galvin’s career in construction, engineering, consulting and manufacturing spans more than 35 years, including 11 years at Georgiou Group.
During this time, he has been involved in delivering numerous large-scale projects across Australia and in New Zealand.
Ms Hick and Mr Galvin will replace outgoing Infrastructure WA board members Terry Agnew and Kerryl Bradshaw, both who served since 2019.
The state government has announced the reappointment of chairperson Nicole Lockwood, which extends her term until June 30 2026.
Additionally, Jay Weatherill been selected as deputy chairperson until the end of 2027, one year after joining the board, while Rebecca Tomkinson has been reappointed as a board member until mid-2026.
Ms Lockwood thanked Mr Agnew and Ms Bradshaw for their service, particularly with guiding the inaugural state infrastructure strategy, and said she was pleased to welcome Ms Hick and Mr Galvin to the board.
“I look forward to continuing to drive progress at IWA, particularly as our focus shifts to the delivery of the next state infrastructure strategy,” Ms Lockwood said.
Premier Roger Cook echoed Ms Lockwood’s gratitude to both the outgoing and newly appointed board members.
“I thank outgoing members Mr Agnew and Ms Bradshaw for their dedication and the invaluable guidance as inaugural members of the Infrastructure WA board,” he said.
“Mr Galvin and Ms Hick bring with them an extensive and diverse range of experiences that will complement the board's skillset, and I am pleased to welcome them.”
