Harvey Industries Group (HIG), trading as Harvey Beef, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Rapattoni to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Mr Rapattoni will take the helm of Harvey Beef on 1 November 2007 from Mark Spurr, who was brought in as Interim CEO, in July 2007.
"We are delighted to announce Michael's appointment" said HIG Chairman, John Nicholls. "Since joining the organisation as Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary in August 2006, Michael has developed a deep understanding of the business and has been a key driver of the company's continued operational and strategic development."
Mr Nicholls also thanked Interim CEO Mark Spurr for his efforts in the lead-up to the appointment of a permanent CEO. "We would like to thank Mark for overseeing Harvey Beef during the last four months. His excellent stewardship has been greatly appreciated by the organisation," said Nicholls.
Michael Rapattoni said he was looking forward to commencing in his new role as the CEO of HIG this week, and that he was excited by the opportunities for growth that lie ahead. "I am committed to strengthening relationships with our producers, key suppliers and customers over the coming months. The market that producers and processors are currently facing is complex, and I feel strongly that we need to work together towards a unified outcome," he said.
Harvey Beef is Western Australia's largest producer of high quality beef for local, national and international markets. Harvey Beef is also among Australia's top 25 red meat processors.
Harvey Beef was founded in 1919 by Ernest George Green and his wife Emily. Known as EG Green & Sons, it grew from a modest family-run business with "just a handful of cattle", to become a tried and true Western Australian icon, synonymous with the 'clean and green' environment of the pristine South West, and the old fashioned values of quality, reliability and service.
Harvey Beef operates within a culture of continuous quality improvement and through innovative procedures that meet stringent production, safety and hygiene standards. Currently around 70 per cent of its product is exported overseas - in particular to Japan, Korea, Indonesia, USA, Singapore, Taiwan and the Middle East.
