Hall works coming

PERTH Town Hall renovation works look like finally starting in January.

Council has accepted a tender from Cox Howlett and Bailey Woodland and Hocking Planning and Architecture to handle the conservation refurbishment works for stage one of the Perth Town Hall renovation. The consortium is getting paid $328,460 plus GST for the works.

Council has set aside $4.1 million for stage one of the Town Hall renovation.

Councillor Michael Sutherland said the $4.1 million would largely go towards making sure the building did not fall down.

Lord Mayor Peter Nattrass said he had seen so many consultants employed for the Town Hall project over the years yet no work seemed to have been done.

“I’m disappointed it has taken so long to appoint these consultants,” Dr Nattrass said.

“I thought we were going to start work in conjunction with the Fini Group who are redeveloping the old Treasury Building.”
