HHG's Simon Creek has revealed his plans for a tilt at politics.

Lawyer Simon Creek has put his hat in the ring to replace former state Treasurer Christian Porter as the member for Bateman.

Mr Creek will be stepping away from operational involvement at the law firm HHG Legal which he jointly founded to contest the blue chip seat south of the river.

He has been involved with Bateman at a campaign level but is expected to face fierce competition for the safe Liberal seat.

Murray Thornhill will take over HHG as managing director while Mr Creek will become chairman.

Mr Porter is contesting the federal seat of Pearce. He will speak about his political ambitions at a WA Business News Success and Leadership breakfast on August 28.
