Prominent Fremantle agent Hayden Groves has been named as the Real Estate Institute of WA’s new president.

Mr Groves succeeds David Airey in the role, who stepped down from the presidency after four years last month.

Momentum Wealth managing director Damian Collins was named as Mr Groves’ deputy.

Mr Groves said he would aim to build on the work Mr Airey did to establish a strong profile for Reiwa.

“It’s clear that while the WA market will be relatively soft for the next year or so, I want to ensure that Reiwa members and the general public get the best services and property information they can as they negotiate this uncertain period in the property cycle,” he said.

Mr Groves runs an independent property agency in Fremantle that also manages a rental portfolio of around 450 properties.

He moved to WA from Victoria in 1993 and has served on the Reiwa council since 2010.
