GRIFFIN Energy has pulled out of final bidding to supply Western Power with peaking power in the South West.
The company, in partnership with Mitsui, has recently submitted an expression of interest to Western Power for a South West baseload plant, and will focus its efforts on this project, Griffin Group executive general manager business development Gary Jeffery said.
Griffin Energy was in partnership with Hongkong Electric International for the 240 megawatt peaking plant, against a separate bid by Mitsui.
Mr Jeffery said there were joint venture difficulties with the peaking plant bid.
The base plant tender was a far more attractive opportunity.
Griffin would build at least 360 megawatts of capacity and could sell excess power to other customers, he said.
