Green light for Kimberley Diamond project

Green light for Kimberley Diamond project KIMBERLEY Diamond Company has received environmental approval from Environment Minister Judy Edwards to develop the proposed $47 million Ellendale 4 diamond project, located about 15 kilometres south of its existing Ellendale 9 operations. The approval has been given for development of a 4.4-million-tonne-a-year open-cut diamond mine and processing facility at Ellendale 4.More than 2.7 million carats are forecast to be produced over the next seven years at the project.Overall project implementation is on schedule for completion in April 2006, following the approval, the company said.
