Up to $2million in State Government funding is available to assist with regional industrial and commercial projects in the provision of essential services - such as water, electricity, telecommunications, gas, drainage and sewerage.
Local Government and Regional Development Minister Jon Ford yesterday called for applications under the Regional Headworks Program for grants of between $5,000 and $200,000.
"The RHP aims to stimulate economic growth and sustainable development in regional Western Australian communities by attracting investment and increasing job opportunities through support for new industrial or commercial activity and the expansion of existing regional businesses," Mr Ford said.
"Projects which can demonstrate how they contribute to positive social or environmental outcomes could also be eligible.
The Minister said individual businesses, business groups, local government, community and not-for-profit organisations were encouraged to apply.
"Projects which may be considered for funding include those involving industry and tourism development, the expansion of existing commercial and industrial enterprises, seniors and community care accommodation and the development of certain types of community facilities such as arts and sports centres," he said.
"The previous round of this program last year assisted 17 projects throughout regional WA."
The Regional Headworks Program is part of the Carpenter Government's $80million Regional Investment Fund.
Completed applications must be received by close of business on Wednesday,
June 7.
