Stockbroking firm Goldman Sachs JB Were has started the process of rebuilding its Perth office by making four appointments, including the recruitment of Tait Farrow Azure co-founder Jason Farrow.
Goldman Sachs was left with just three investment advisers in its Perth office after 16 staff left to join rival firm Citi Smith Barney, which will have a total of 36 investment advisers in Perth once the recruits commence.
Goldman Sachs' managing director and head of private wealth management Paul Heath said his firm was committed to the Perth market and was aiming to rebuild its presence here.
It has attempted to cover the losses from its Perth team by flying in up to eight staff from its interstate offices.
Mr Farrow, who worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Macquarie Bank before helping to establish investment advisory firm Tait Farrow Azure, joined Goldman Sachs earlier this month as a senior adviser.
Dwight Clark has been recruited from Capital Partners Consulting as a financial planner.
Amanda Telling has transferred from Goldman Sachs' Sydney office back to her home town of Perth as an adviser, while Michelle Loke has joined the firm as an analyst.

Goldman Sachs JBWere Private Wealth Management today announced four permanent appointments to its Perth office following recent changes within the team.
Mr Paul Heath, Managing Director and Head of Goldman Sachs JBWere Private Wealth Management, said that the appointment of three advisory roles and a financial planning specialist to the Perth office reinforces the firm's ongoing commitment to its Western Australian clients and to its presence in Perth.
"Following the recent departures from the Perth office, we are delighted to announce the appointment of three advisory roles and a financial planning specialist for our Western Australian clients. Joining the Goldman Sachs JBWere Private Wealth Management in Perth is:
Jason Farrow, Founding Partner and Managing Director of Tait Farrow Azure Investment Partners in Western Australia. Jason joins GSJBW as a Senior Adviser and brings over 13 years of private client advisory experience to the firm. Jason was previously Head of Private Bank for Macquarie Bank in Western Australia and worked for over 7 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers based in Perth. Jason is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Murdoch University. Jason commenced with GSJBW on 9 November
Dwight Clark, formerly Senior Associate with Capital Partners Consulting joins GSJBW as a Financial Planner. Dwight brings over 7 years financial planning experience working with Capital Partners and with NKH Financial Planning based in Perth. Dwight brings experience across the entire spectrum of wealth advisory including tax, risk profiling, gearing strategies, structuring, agricultural investment superannuation, estate planning and insurance. Dwight holds a Bachelor of Business; Finance and Economics from ECU in Western Australia and is a Certified Financial Planner. Dwight commenced with GSJBW on 15 November.
Michelle Loke joins GSJBW as an Analyst having worked previously as an Adviser Assistant at Macquarie Bank in Perth. Michelle brings over 7 years industry experience, mainly in Western Australia. Prior to her role with Macquarie Bank, Michelle held positions with Optimus Financial Group, Hartleys Limited, Tower Australia based in Sydney and National Australia Bank. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, Diploma in Modern Languages from the University of Western Australia, is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and holds the Diploma in Financial Planning - Foundation Award from Deakin University. Michelle commences with GSJBW on 19 November.
Amanda Telling joins the GSJBW Perth office as an Adviser. Amanda previously worked within the GSJBW Special Investments Group for the Private Wealth Management division in the Sydney office and has also previously worked within the Investment Strategy team in GSJBW's Melbourne office. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Western Australia and has completed the Securities & Derivatives Industry Association Accreditation Program. Amanda is currently a candidate for the Chartered Financial Anaylsts (CFA) qualification. Amanda has relocated from Sydney to her new permanent role in the Perth office.
Mr Heath said that these four appointments to the Perth office ensure that Goldman Sachs JBWere's Private Wealth Management business continues to focus on service delivery and execution for clients in Western Australia.
