On Thursday September 9 the Securities Institute will hold a Corporate Briefing titled Gold Showcase at the Sheraton Hotel.
Guest speakers for the event will be managing director of De Grey Mining Denis O’Meara, managing director of Jackson Gold Andy Viner, CEO and executive director of Dragon Mining NL James Searie and managing director of Deep Yellow Limited Dr Alistair Cowden.
Mr O’Meara is the founder of De Grey Mining and has a lifelong involvement in mining, exploration, and prospecting.
De Grey’s share price has recently moved from 15 cents to 65 cents in the past four months following the company’s discovery of rich gold intercepts during its resource definition-drilling program.
Mr Viner has been involved in mineral exploration for more than 20 years.
He was a founding promoter and director of Jackson Gold and has been managing director since listing on the ASX in June 2002.
Over the past 12 months the company has assessed all projects and subsequently rationalised activities to focus on its two Kalgoorlie projects.
Dragon Mining is a minerals exploration company with interests in Australia and overseas, primarily in Scandinavia, the company expects commissioning of their new Svartiliden Gold Mine in Sweden in August or September as well as possibly announcing a timetable for development of another gold project in Finland.
James Searle became chief executive officer at Dragon in March 1998; he has been involved in the exploration and mining industry for more than 25 years in Australia and overseas.
Deep Yellow underwent major changes in April 2003 with the acquisition of the advanced gold project at Mikado gold mine near Laverton and a 40 per cent interest in an extensive exploration portfolio in the same area.
In April 2004 the Mikado mine hit full production earlier than expected and will provide revenues of approximately $17m to the company.
Dr Cowden joined the board at Deep Yellow in April 2003 and has more than 20 years experience as a geologist and mining company executive in Australia, Africa, Europe and New Zealand.
