Pilbara focused explorer, Warwick Resources Limited today announced a number of key appointments as it gears up to commence an aggressive exploration program on its projects near Newman in Western Australia:
- Linda Sprigg (ex Oxiana, Consolidated Minerals) has been appointed Project Geologist;
- Clare Kelly (ex Consolidated Minerals) has been appointed Contract Geologist;
- Chris Wilson (ex Oxiana, Consolidated Minerals) has been appointed Field Logistics Manager; and
- Lyn Tomlinson has been appointed Company Secretary and Financial Controller.
Linda Sprigg and Chris Wilson previously held key exploration roles at Oxiana's large Sepon copper project in Laos and at Consolidated Minerals' Woodie Woodie manganese operation in the Pilbara. Linda has a first class geology honours degree from the University of Melbourne. Her experience at Sepon will be particularly relevant to the evaluation of the Copper Range project.
Clare Kelly joins Warwick Resources from Consolidated Minerals where she held the position of exploration geologist at the Woodie Woodie manganese operation. Clare holds a master of geological science degree from Imperial College, London.
Lyn Tomlinson is a Chartered Accountant and has significant public company experience having previously worked for Nkwe Platinum Limited and Portman Limited. Prior to commencing in industry, Lyn worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Murdoch University.
Will Burbury has resigned as Company Secretary and remains a Director of the Company.
Investors should be aware that Cyclone George and Cyclone Jacob impacted on the drilling and field work program that had been planned for this month. Weather permitting, the planned RC drilling program will commence in early April with results expected in late April.
The program has been designed to:
- demonstrate the presence of significant copper mineralisation and precious metal credits along the 9km strike extent of the Copper Range project;
- extend the known limits of high grade gold mineralisation at Sunny South on the Jimblebar project; and
- test the grade and continuity of chromitite seams at Coobina West, located 5km to the west of the Coobina chromite mine.
The Company will confirm the date that drilling commences in due course.
Further field work will commence at the Woggaginna base metal-uranium project to evaluate the higher priority uranium targets recognised from airborne radiometric survey data. As announced on 20 February 2007, Southern Geoscience Consultants has identified 16 large uranium targets in a significant radiometric complex at Woggaginna. A spectrometer will be used to isolate the sources of the uranium anomalies followed up by channel sampling. Results from this work are expected to be available in April.
Warwick Resources Technical Director Bruce McQuitty said that these appointments prior to the commencement of drilling are an important component of the Company's plan to deliver early results.
"At a time when many resource companies are struggling to find skilled people and source drill rigs, it is pleasing to have recruited a high quality exploration team," Mr McQuitty said.
"Warwick Resources has hit the ground running following a successful ASX listing one month ago."
"Fortunately, through our relationship with Peak Drilling, we do have access to drill rigs and so we are well placed to test exploration targets and then commence resource drilling on our advanced prospects."
