THE licence for software to manage the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipe-line has been sold by pipeline owner Epic Energy to the Department of Land Administration.
The agreement is believed to be an Australian first.
While Epic owns the pipeline, the Land Access Minister retained ownership of the 1,530 kilometre pipeline easement.
DOLA is responsible for managing the land on behalf of the Minister.
The software, developed by Epic, integrates land, survey, construction, engineering and environmental data and is used for land management of the pipeline corridor.
It will allow access to up-to-date information on the route of the pipeline, topography and geography of the easement and land-owner information.
Epic has also developed a method of data collection and transfer for the software – first used in the Southern Loop Pipeline Project near Harvey.
