Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett has cleared the last regulatory hurdle for the $50 billion Gorgon LNG project, leaving its joint venture owners free to make their final investment decision.

"It is a remote area, it is not the spectacular coastline that most associate with the Kimberley ... and this is the only way that I can see there being a realistic, economic future for Aboriginal people in the area." (Premier Barnett on the Gorgon Project approval) Did I miss something? How did the Aboriginals get into the Project? I thought the endangered species relevant to the environmental approval lived on Barrow Island, not mainland Australia.
