THE success of the Canning Vale development over the past
three decades has encouraged several other local councils to look at similar
proposals for their area, among them Hope Valley/Wattelup.
The Hope Valley Wattelup Redevelopment covers 1,250 hectares
and will ultimately cater for transport-related industry, general industry, eco
industry/ business park, resource recovery, commercial and rural.
Completion of the draft master plan for the redevelopment
project is expected by the end of November.
The development’s proximity to Kwinana means that the
Environmental Protection Authority has restricted residential growth, and the
State Government has been buying land in the area in anticipation of the
industrial redevelopment.
When completed the project is expected to provide 10,000
jobs, maximising the advantages of being located close to the Kwinana
Industrial Area.
Similar to Canning Vale, the redevelopment will aim to allow
for purpose-built precincts where business can benefit from other operations of
a similar commercial nature.
The master plan is currently with the EPA, from where it may
be amended, and then passed on to the Western Australian Planning Commission.
