New Notre Dame Australia academic Professior Geoff Kiel has received a federal grant to examine the increasingly high profile area of corporate governance.
University of Notre Dame Australia senior deputy vice chancellor and dean of the Fremantle Campus School of Business, Professor Geoff Kiel is the chief investigator in a project which has won a Discovery Grant from the Australian Research Council.
The project is titled 'Director identity, identification and information flows as predictors of board monitoring, resource provision and organisational performance.'
As a director, consultant too many boards and author of two books and numerous publications on corporate governance, Professor Kiel is acknowledged as an expert in corporate governance. He was previously professor of management at the University of Queensland and is chairman of Queensland-based governance, strategy and strategic marketing consulting services provider Competitive Dynamics.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management and past president of the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy and a past president of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management.
All three reviewers of the application concurred that the project has clear national benefits for both non profit and corporate entities
Professor Kiel will be working with colleagues from Arizona State University, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology and the University of Queensland over the next five years.
