SEASHELLS Hospitality Group has acquired Yallingup’s Caves House and will alter current redevelopment plans at the resort to cater for a family market.
The group, which owns Seashells Broome, Seashells Serviced Apartments Scarborough, and will launch Seashells Mandurah next year, acquired the property from Cape Hotels.
The deal effectively negates the property’s managers, Peppers Leisure, from proceeding with current development plans.
Pepper, in a joint venture with Yallingup Holdings, is instead developing a small boutique property south of Yallingup, close to the popular surfing beach at Injidup Bay. It is expected to be completed by September, 2006.
Seashells Hospitality Group managing director Paul King said the company had been keen to develop a property in the Busselton area for some time.
Caves House is currently closed for renovations but Mr King is keen to get the facility open as soon as possible.
“We’re going to improve the current developments,” Mr King said.
“The rooms are too small and it is geared toward couples. We are more into the leisure and family business so we are going to look at how we can increase the room sized.”
A day spa will be developed as well as a commercial area to support the resort.
Seashells Hospitality Group has invested more than $50 million in its resorts in the past year.
