The state government has approved an extra $94.8 million funding to help Western Power to deliver several key customer driven works, including the Oakajee development in the state's Mid-West.
Energy Minister Peter Collier said that the funding would help Western Power to meet the challenges of maintaining a large and isolated distribution grid.
Mr Collier said $43.2 million will be spent in the Mid-West, including connecting the Oakajee development and proposed wind farms.
He said $38.4 million will be used for customer driven works in the Perth metropolitan area, such as substations at the Jandakot and Perth airports, city railway substation and upgrades to the Mundaring Weir substation.
A further $13.2million will be allocated for works on wind farm generators for Albany and gas turbines in Merredin.
Western Power managing director Doug Aberle said customer funded works were an important consideration when undertaking this planning.
"The corporation monitors load growth and plans the development of the network that ensures it is able to accommodate customer driven works and meet the State's future energy needs," Mr Aberle said.
In the last financial year, Western Power spent $57million in customer driven works.
