SOLAHART Industries, Noranda Primary School, Steens Gray and Kelly, Ellenbrook Management and Rob Horn are among the winners of this year’s Energy Efficiency Awards.
Hot water system manufacturer Solahart won the Industry category for reducing energy consumption and green house gas emissions at its manufacturing plant.
Consulting engineering firm Steens Gray and Kelly won the innovation award for its work on the City of Bayswater’s New Waves Aquatic Centre.
Noranda Primary School won the educational and community-based program category for developing a culture of environmental awareness and energy conservation among its staff and students.
Students undertake studies in energy conservation at each level of schooling. Everyone at the school monitors their energy use and employs plans to save energy.
Ellenbrook Management won the planning, transport and infrastructure award for the master plan it created for the development of the urban village Coolamon.
It created a diverse, mixed use community with specific principles to promote and encourage the energy efficient design of all residences in the village.
Available Energy Consultants principal Rob Horn won the energy achiever category for his work to reduce his clients’ energy consumption.
Mr Horn conducted the feasibility study into using landfill gas in existing boilers at Challenge Stadium and the research and development, design and project management for the conversion to landfill gas at the centre. That effort won him the Australian National Energy Award in 1994.
