The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) Chief Executive, Belinda Robinson, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stedman Ellis to the position of APPEA Director - Western Australia.
Mr Ellis is currently the Deputy Director General, Strategic Policy, with Western Australia's Department of Mines and Petroleum.
Ms Robinson said: "Mr Ellis brings to APPEA exceptional skills and experience, particularly in public policy and political advocacy, and is well known and highly regarded by both Government and the WA oil and gas industry".
Before joining the Department of Mines and Petroleum, Mr Ellis held a series of senior external affairs and communications roles over a 17 year period with BHP Billiton and, prior to that, with the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy.
Ms Robinson said: "With the majority of Australia's oil and gas industry located on the west coast, APPEA's Perth office plays a crucial role in securing the long term future of our industry and in progressing the collective wellbeing of APPEA members operating within Australia's premier petroleum province.
"Mr Ellis's senior public and private sector experience, and knowledge of the industry, makes him a great fit for APPEA and for facilitating the industry's aspirations in WA."
Mr Ellis will start in APPEA's Perth office on Monday, 15 November.
